Spain vs Colombia predictions, betting tips and match preview

Spain vs Colombia predictions and tips for their International Friendly match in Murcia on Wednesday, June 7. This is Spain’s warm-up match for their World Cup 2018 qualifier against Macedonia.

Ready for the World International Friendlies? If you're a fan of Spain or Colombia you should mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 7, 2017 / 8:30 PM. Who has a better shot at winning this match? It's time for the World International Friendlies. Fans and critics are looking forward to this clash. Julen Lopetegui and José Pekerman will do their best to motivate their players and win the match. Who will be victorious in the end: Spain or Colombia?

Spain are coming into this match in good form. In their most recent match, back in March, they beat France away from home by 2-0. Spain remained unbeaten for 11 months over 6 matches. The last time Spain played at home they easily overcame Israel by 4-1.

Colombia are coming into this match after getting 2 vital wins in their South American World Cup qualifying group. Those wins came against Ecuador and Bolivia. Colombia have lost 2 matches in the last year though those were against Brazil and Argentina.

Julen Lopetegui (Spain's coach) has named a strong team for the 2 matches that will conclude his team’s season, sticking with the players that have served him well since taking over from Vicente del Bosque last summer.

Unlike several international managers Julen Lopetegui has abstained from the policy of experimentation at this stage of the campaign and while he has included a few players inexperienced at this level, it is largely his tried-and-trusted group who will face Colombia and then Macedonia away from home in the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers - Group G.

There is still no recall for Iker Casillas, Juanfran, Cesc Fabregas or Hector Bellerin who were all in the Euro 2016 team but have not featured under Lopetegui, while Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has also been left out despite recently forcing his way into the senior international picture.

As long as he has no ill-effects from the UEFA Champions League Final, Sergio Ramos will captain the team while vast experience is also provided by 100+-cap duo Andres Iniesta and David Silva – whose midfield colleague Sergio Busquets is only three short of the century.

In terms of the World Cup 2018 qualifying picture, Spain are joint top of their Group G with Italy and as their main rivals are at home to Lichtenstein next, victory in Macedonia is essential.

For Colombia, this is the first of two friendly matches in Spain because six days later they will take on Cameroon at Getafe’s stadium, with their next World Cup 2018 Qualifying assignment being away from home to Venezuela on August 31, 2017.

Colombia are currently 2nd in the South American standings behind Brazil and looking in excellent shape to secure a direct place at the World Cup in Russia 2018.

Jose Pekerman (Colombia's coach) could decide to recall Monaco's striker Radamel Falcao, who returned to  his best form this season, while Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez is joined by Daniel Torres of Alaves as players who could face the national team where they ply their trade at club level.

Spain vs Colombia match stats
